I heart Michael Moore (and Michelle and Barack Obama)

I get the Michael Moore newsletter in my inbox regularly. I look forward to each new letter Moore sends. He always says what needs to be said before it even needs to be said.

This morning I woke to another letter from Moore in my inbox. Today he was acknowledging the overwhelming defeat of Hllary Clinton in Iowa last night. He was also acknowledging something that came to a surprise even to me, "I know that Senator Obama is so much more than simply the color of his skin, but all of us must acknowledge -- and celebrate -- the fact that one of the whitest states in the U.S. just voted for a black man to be our next president."

Wow! When I first heard that Sen. Obama had won Iowa, I can't express the warmth I felt in my spirit. Being from Chicago, I have been a long-time Obama supporter, but this week, after seeing The Great Debaters, I thought to myself, "Are Americans really ready for Barack Obama to represent them globally? Are Americans really ready for Michelle Obama to influence decisions that will affect all of us? Nah, they aren't going to do it."

Well, as we continue this year and move closer and closer to November, we will see if "they" are ready (I don't say "we" because I know I am ready). Iowa has spoken and could easily influence every remaining caucus. So I'll keep my fingers crossed and continue to say a prayer for the Obama family daily because it's not just "in the Jim Crow south they lynch black people".

Are you registered to vote?

*An extra side note from the Michael Moore letter, "To have so many young people come out and vote -- and vote for Obama -- this is a proud moment."
